I wonder why there was no digital camera when I have more time for traveling? I’m too lazy to scan those photos though. LOL!

But one of the nicest places in Melbourne is Carlton Garden. It’s a nice garden which is very near to the Royal Exhibition Building. This historical building is very nice and I took some shots of the building. But the best thing was sitting and chatting on the grass with my friend. I hardly do this when I’m back to Malaysia. Who has the time to sit on the grass except the one at the playground? But please don’t bring along your canvas tent and camp at the garden ok? It’s illegal.

Gee…I really miss Melbourne.

Do You Buy Surveniors from Oversea Trips?

Oct-31-2007 By shoppingmum

I have an endless list of souvenirs which we bought from our trips to oversea, but I think most of them are lost somewhere in the house, or they were given away. Sometimes, I don’t think those souvenirs are practical at all. I got a few personalized pens from China, koala bears clippers from Australia, handphone accessories from Korea and others from friends but I lost most of them too. What should I do with all these stuffs since I have some my own as well?

But I love something which I bought from Korea, and it’s some wall decors.

They are really cute and I put them up, so they are never lost over the years! But something like the decor we bought from Bali and the one given by my friend who’s just back from China annoyed me….

Don’t you think they are ugly?

A Must for Traveling

Oct-21-2007 By shoppingmum

I brought along my laptop when I went to Bali as I knew that I would need to check my emails or satisfied my blogging urge. I started to rely heavily on my laptop since the day I decided to work at home. That means I would have to log on everywhere I go because you just cannot leave your mailbox for days!

My Dell XPS

Luckily, I brought along my laptop as I had 3 rejected posts to be fixed. If not, I would be pounding my heart losing the money. So, I can go traveling without makeup, but I can’t leave my laptop behind now.

The Casual Traveler

Oct-21-2007 By shoppingmum

We went to Bali with Lovely Mummy and Mummy in Vain. Three of us used to hang out a lot together, but lately, all of us have things to deal with and we seldom have time for shopping or yam cha anymore. But maybe we will do so once Lovely Mummy comes back after her treatment.

When we are traveling to Bali, 2 of them would put on makeup and do their hair well. When they went to Korea, they told me that they would check their look with the mine makeup mirrors every now and then to make sure that they looked good. LOL!

I’m very vain too, but when I’m traveling, I would prefer to bring only the minimum of skincare and makeup. I’m the casual traveler that hardly put makeup on when I’m going for sightseeing. I would just tie up a ponytail at the back of my head to keep my hair in place, and the most I would do is put on the sunblock.

So, which type of traveler are you? The classy look type? Or the casual type like me?

Shopping in Paris

Oct-21-2007 By shoppingmum

Blame it on the heavy rain outside, and now I’m stuck at home because it’s not convenient to go out on a rainy day. I’m desperate to go for shopping, but I don’t feel like getting wet. If only I am traveling to Paris now and do some serious shopping there, it will be a great way of spending my afternoon.

If it’s not due to hubby’s busy schedule, I will be able to travel more often and make a trip to Paris. Hubby’s been there, so he’s not keen to go there again. But if I can hook him up with some sports tickets like Cricket Tickets and Rugby Tickets, I wonder if he will be more willing to make a trip to Europe. We won’t just be going to Paris alone. It would be a better idea to go to a few nice places in Europe such as Spain, Italy and UK.

Maybe he will be thrilled if we managed to get him the Football Tickets to watch his favorite football team, Manchester United! Then, he will have his enjoyable trip that includes watching some games, while I will have the time of my life shopping like a queen.

But before anything can be done, let’s make more money for a nice trip like this. Visiting Europe is not going to be a budget trip.

Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne

Do you know why I would like to blog about Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne? It’s not that I went there to do my grocery shopping, but I found that is definitely the biggest market I have ever been too. There are a few sections, and I remembered that I did a lot of shopping there for stuffs like clothes, accessories, souvenirs and some T-shirts. But what reminded me the most about this place is they sell meats from kangaroo and crocodile, and I was like, “Yikes! You eat that?” LOL! So suai tu.

BTW, there was a live band performing outside the market, and oh boy, they were good! Too bad I didn’t snap any photos. Gee…

I can’t remember well how I got there from St Kilda. I think we must have taken the tram or bus. Mmm….I really need to visit Australia again, I really miss Melbourne. Let me ask hubby to hire the commercial collection agency to help him to get back his money, then we can go liao!

My Trip To Australia

Oct-18-2007 By shoppingmum

Actually, I didn’t go to Australia just of holiday. I was there to attend the graduation of my best friend as I promised him before that I would try my best to make it. So, what else can a best friend do forgraduation announcements? I flew all the way there!

He was a law student, and the first impression I had about the university was it’s old, very very old. LOL!

But it’s a nice place for photo shots as it looks totally different from our local universities. Mmm…how come I can’t find the photos of the university in my album? I must have lost them.

Great Ocean Road, Victoria Australia

Oct-18-2007 By shoppingmum

It has been a few years since my trip to Australia. I wanted to bring my kids there this December, but the plan didn’t work out. Hubby is postponing the trip to next year, and hopefully he’s keeping his promise this time.

One of the best places in Victoria is the Great Ocean Road. We drove there from Melbourne and it took a few hours for us to reach there. If you are interested to drive there as well, here are some suggestions:

You can drive to the Great Ocean Road region from interstate on excellent highways and freeways. From Sydney, you can take the Hume Freeway and then travel to Geelong via the Western Ring Road and Princes Freeway, making your connection with the Great Ocean Road. (This trip takes around 12 hours. Most travellers break their journey with an overnight stop.) From Melbourne, Geelong is a 55-minute drive via the West Gate and Princes freeways. A network of highways also link regional centres to Geelong and various other points along the Great Ocean Road. The western gateway to the region is at Nelson, near the South Australian border. Excellent roads connect with the South Australian capital of Adelaide, 490km away. Cars and mobile homes are readily available for hire in the major cities.

Even if the journey is quite long, but you will enjoy the breathtaking views of the nice beaches and coastlines. When you are there, don’t miss the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, Maritime Heritage, waterfalls and the rainforest of Cape Otway.

I wanted to show my photos of the scenery and a funny car spoiler we saw on the road, but I don’t have the soft copies. I’m too lazy to do the scanning as well. LOL! But I will try to take some photos if we are going there again. I just have to convince hubby to drive all the way there or get a bus tour from Melbourne.

Horseback Riding

Oct-18-2007 By shoppingmum

My boy keeps telling us that he wants to ride on a horse. Blame it to all those Barney clips he watches about cowboys and farms. LOL! Hubby told him that he’s too young for horseback riding, but when he grows up, we will go for a trip.

I found that the Horseback Riding in Las Vegas is pretty interesting. There are a few Las Vegas Horseback Tours including breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight tours, and you can just pick the one that suits you the most. If you are going with a lot of friends, you can also inquiry about the group booking of 20 -100 persons on a tour. Thus, you may consider an adventurous company trip too if you are planning for one.
I think my boy will surely be thrilled if he can join a trip like this. But since he’s only going to be three years old this December, he might be too young for horseback riding now. Furthermore, he told us he only wants to ride on a little pony. LOL! Anyway, the tours are only suitable for kids over 5 years old, that means I will have to wait for another few more years. My little gal is only one years old this year! How can I leave her behind?

Tanah Lot, Bali

This is one of the nicest place in Bali and I would recommend it if you like to look at the sunset of Bali. You will walk pass a flea market that sells all sorts of stuffs, but after 2 days in Bali, I feel that most of the things are about the same. If you miss anything in the previous tourist spots, don’t be bothered about it as you will likely to find something similar elsewhere, if you don’t mind about the price. Just try to bargain for it if you are willing to buy.

The Common Stuffs You See Everywhere in Bali

I was wondering if I should get this set of drum, but no, I didn’t get it.

It was a crowded place but we didn’t stop for shopping. I just managed to glimpse at the stalls and snapped a few photos as we were rushing for the sunset. BTW, I almost stepped on the offerings of their local praying ceremony. Just have to be watchful especially if you walk really near the stalls. Luckily I managed to “skip” over it.:P

The beach was nice and there is a garden where you can have a nice evening stroll. The tour guide asked if we would like to walk over to the temple, but we didn’t want to. The guys were very adventurous and they took some photos at the cliffs. I am afraid of height and I stayed back watching my kids.

It’s nice to stay for a little longer to see the sun set completely, but we were rushing off to Kuta again. If you would like a relaxing moment to forget about your work or that corporate performance management stuffs you are working on, come to Tanah Lot. Of course, please visit the place in the evening.
