Mangrove Tour in Langkawi: Part 1

Dec-27-2007 By shoppingmum

This is the best thing we had in Langkawi. At first, hubby and I just wanted to go shopping in Kuah but the hotel staff advised us to go for the mangrove tour. It cost RM300 for a boat, but it’s worth it. The trip is awesome!

We were driven by a taxi to Tanjong Rhu where we met up with our boatman.

There are a few activities you can do in this area, just as shown on the board.

I will update this mangrove tour in a few posts as it’s quite lengthy. Firstly, here are the boats. You can ask for safety jackets if you don’t feel comfortable with it, but we only put ours on once we reached the open sea after the whole tour.

We set off into the river where you can see lots of mangrove trees on both sides of the banks. It’s really nice feeling the speed of the boat and having the strong breeze messing up my hair. LOL!

A few minutes later, we came to the spot where there were more than 15 eagles feeding on the river. They are wild, but they won’t attack anyone unless you go too near. Both hubby and I decided on the spot that we got to bring our kids here someday and let them see those eagles. They will definitely love this more than those kids party invitations.

After that, we went to Crocodile Cave where crocodiles were spotted years ago. Our boatman said he hadn’t seen any crocodiles for some time and frankly, we didn’t want to see anyone either. :P

We went to a fish farm shortly after and I will update that in another post.

Berjaya Langkawi Beach And Spa Resort

I didn’t regret paying for the expensive chalet. It’s a great holiday destination with trees and beaches, just like what I like the most if I want to be away from the city. Our chalet is located somewhere in the wood, and I forgot to leave a note that I preferred the unit to be by the beach! So if I’m going there again, I want to stay at those suites near the sea.

It’s great to be near the nature. The staffs were friendly and the facilities are great too. The only thing that bothered me is that the rooms are not equipped with internet connection and I had to log on at the lobby.

Maybe they just want us to relax and forget about our work huh? Hubby wanted me to practice yoga and he thought of getting some exercise and prohormones but who knows? We were too lazy to move. LOL!

Tonnes of Photos Taken in Langkawi

It’s great spending some time away in Langkawi and I have plans of bring my kids here again next time. I’m still busy uploading the 496 photos up to my Flickr account right now. Yes, it’s that much for 2 days! LOL!

But I’m not going to get the ferry again if I’m coming with my kids. It’s too bumpy and they can’t take it. I found a few nice places that my kids will love it and I know that they will definitely enjoy the donkey or house riding. My boy might even request to have his own horse riding apparel if he knows that he can do this here in Langkawi!

Besides that, I’m sure that 3 days is not enough for Langkawi if we would like to bring the kids around to most of the famous attraction. If we are not moving next year, it will be easier to arrange another trip. Let’s see how things go. I really hope to bring the kids here!

Excited!

Dec-16-2007 By shoppingmum

I am leaving for Penang this morning, we will go to Langkawi tomorrow. I’m pretty excited about this trip as well as the family vacation to Bangkok later next week. But before that, I have some last minute shopping to get some gifts for boys and girls for my boy’s party at his school. We will be back for 2 days to attend the party before flying off to Bangkok on Saturday.

It’s going to be very packed for me but I know that we will enjoy it. Let’s hope that I got all my tickets and reservation documents ready before I leave the house!

Watching Movies During Holiday

Dec-15-2007 By shoppingmum

I don’t have time for TV whenever I’m taking care of the kids. When I spent a day in KL with hubby, I didn’t go anything much but blogging and watching TV at the same time. I watched 3 movies consecutively that day, and I haven’t spent such long hours watching TV in years! I was quite happy about it and I’m hoping to do this again if possible.

For this trip to Langkawi, I decided to take it easy. If the weather is great, we might go around the idea. But if it’s raining, I may just stay at the resort, blogging from the business center, or watching movies at the comfort of my room. I wonder if there are DVD players provide? If there is, I can grab some movies from memorabilia and bring them along. I haven’t watch Cold Mountain because I’m a big fan of Jude Law!

COLD MOUNTAIN

It’s an old movie, but I haven’t got a chance to watch it! So, maybe I can spend some time watching movies when I’m away? But it would also mean a waste just to watch DVD not not going for sightseeing huh?

Luckily, I managed to grab a movie last night. I watched Transformer with hubby and it’s quite nice. Yes, I know it’s an old movie and I’m so outdated!

Berjaya Langkawi Beach and Spa Resort

We are going to stay at Berjaya Langkawi Beach and Spa Resort during our trip to Langkawi. I wanted to stay at Datai, but it’s costing me more than RM5k for 2 nights and hubby said forget about it. LOL! It’s like flying over to Perth already with that amount of money.

But Berjaya should be quite good as well, even if it’s not as exclusive as The Datai. Never mind, I will brainwash hubby to bring me to The Datai one day and try not to pick our stay at the peak season when the price is more expensive. It’s not like hubby is a mesothelioma lawyer who makes tonnes of money every month, so no point wasting money when we can pay a cheaper amount at some other time of the year.

Besides that, it’s just a room!

Shopping in Bangkok

Dec-11-2007 By shoppingmum

Since I’m going to Bangkok soon, I have plans of having a shopping spree there because the things are quite cheap if you know where to shop for it. During my previous visits, I shopped a lot, but most of the places I went only take cash. It’s more like a wholesale market instead of shopping complexes.

My kids are coming along this time, so shopping malls will be a better choice for shopping this time. I wonder if I will blow the credit limit of my credit cards? LOL! But of course, anyone can get the bad credit loans now if you need money urgently. Just compare the loans and interest rates before you get one so that you will end up with the best bargain.

Nonetheless, I know my limits. I have always been a shopaholic but I don’t have balance in my credit cards. :) It’s more like spending within your own means. If you can’t afford it, forget it.

Climbing Mount Kinabalu

Dec-11-2007 By shoppingmum

Out of the blue, hubby asked if I’m interested to climb up Mount Kinabalu next year end. His friends had just got back from their trip and he heard so much about it. I don’t mind trying it out but I need more time to build my stamina. LOL! I don’t want to faint half way in the middle of nowhere at the mountain!

Some of my friends went there during our uni years, but I didn’t follow the trip. I was too chickened to climb the mountain as I knew that I was so lousy at all these physical activities. Besides that, I won’t have any TuitionWise student loans to be wasted! LOL! The trip was too expensive for me when I was studying.

But since hubby is so keen of seeing the sunrise from the top of the mountain, I think it’s best to go with him. Gee…I should start some jogging if the trip is for real.

Christmas in Las Vegas

Dec-10-2007 By shoppingmum

Someone told me that she wants to spend the Christmas in Las Vegas. I am not sure if she can still manage to get the Las Vegas hotel now since it’s the peak season, but if she’s willing to pay, it should not be a problem.

Too bad that she’s late for the Great Santa Run which is held on the 1st of December, but there are still a lot of events going on in Las Vegas this month.

To me, I’m more interested in checking out the pretty Christmas lightings. Take a look at this Christmas tree at Caesars Palace Las Vegas, isn’t it lovely?

Going to Langkawi and Bangkok!

Dec-10-2007 By shoppingmum

Yes! I managed to convinced hubby for 2 trips this month. LOL! Even if it’s just to Langkawi and Bangkok, I’m more than happy about them.

panorama003.jpg

Hubby and I will be leaving for Langkawi next week, just the 2 of us. It’s the first time we are going to have a holiday alone as a couple, so I’m looking forward to it. I wanted to get the flight from Penang to Langkawi, but MAS was fully booked. I forgot about FireFly, if not I would get the tickets as well. I already bought the ferry tickets from Penang to Port Kueh, so forget the flights lah….

I only hope that my room at Berjaya Langkawi Beach and Spa Resort will not be canceled again and again. Go read my rant, I was so t*lan with the stupid company which managed the reservation. I really wanted to poke someone with a safety utility knife (just kidding lah) when I saw my reservation being canceled the second time.

After that, we need to be in Ipoh for a few days for some function and then we will fly to Bangkok with the kids. It’s a last minute plan but we got the flight tickets from AirAsia. It’s only more than RM2k and we saved a lot as comparing to the tickets from MAS which cost more than RM5k for the 4 of us. So, everybody can fly with AirAsia. The tickets are so cheap! We don’t need food lah, it’s just more than 2 hours flight mah….Can just buy those food on the plane anyway, so it’s not a big deal to us flying with AirAsia.
