Off To Bangkok

Apr-26-2008 By shoppingmum

I know that this trip is not about traveling and sightseeing, but I still hope to do some shopping in Bangkok. I wish that we can at least spend some time to experience the interesting nightlife of Bangkok and see some shows. I better make sure that I bring my camera around to snap the city life of Bangkok.

Actually, I wonder if I should bring my laptop along as I don’t have internet connection yet at the place I stay. I can use the PC at BIL’s office, but the old ram and snail Pentium II are testing my patient. I think it’s best to bring the laptop around instead of relying on others. But there are things to take note if you travel around with a laptop. Someone suggested that I should use a backpack laptop bag which is less obvious so that my bag won’t be snatched. Besides that, never leave the laptop in the car, even if I know how convenient that will be!

In short, I hope that this trip is not all about business. I am looking forward for to a break.

Holiday Vacation Or Drug Rehab?

Apr-23-2008 By shoppingmum

I haven’t been to any drug rehabilitation center in our country, but I don’t think we have any which is as well facilitated as those from oversea. Those patients are like going for holiday instead of receiving drug treatment! Just look at the pool…

Anyway, I have no intention to visit the place. Staying away from drugs is the best.

Golf Vacation in Japan

Apr-22-2008 By shoppingmum

Many years ago, a friend of mine had this idea of arranging golfers to play golf in Japan. She can speak well in Japanese and she’s been there for a few years, so she knows most of the tourist spots well. With a golfer husband, it’s not surprising that she had an idea of bringing golfers on golf vacation in Japan.

If she still has the interests of doing that business, I think she can start by setting up an agency and creating her own business cards. It’s pretty easy to design a business card, and she can just create the logo on her own. I tried to create one for her but I think it will look nicer if I can find golf related logo design from LogoYes.

Anyway, if she’s serious in this business, my hubby will definitely be one of her customers. He loves golf and that’s undeniable.

Siam Paragon

Apr-17-2008 By shoppingmum

I am only interested to visit 2 places for my coming trip to Bangkok. Firstly, it’s Platinum Fashion Mall and secondly, it’s Siam Paragon. I have some things in mind that keep bothering me if I don’t buy them now. LOL!

There’s a nice photo of Siam Paragon, the pride of Bangkok in pretty outdoor lighting

I’ve checked out the shopping directory, but too bad they don’t have Louis Vuitton store there. I was hoping to check out some products there. Anyway, if I can’t find them, I can still enjoy window shopping at one of the famous shopping malls in Bangkok city. Hopefully, hubby won’t mind giving me a lift!

My friend’s husband is on a business trip in Morocco for weeks now, and I wonder why she’s not going along? Morocco is certainly one of the nicest vacation spots on earth which I would love to explore one day. I’m curious about how The Saadian Tombs look like in real, and of course, the beaches should be really nice. If not, why would those celebrities going there for sunbathing?

When I searched for more information about Morocco, I came across this boutique hotel called Dar Les Cigognes. The suites captured my attention, just take a look at one of the rooms.

It’s simply romantic huh? I won’t mind leaving my laptop, handphone, CAT5e or anything that reminds me of blogging behind if hubby suggested that we spend a few nights there. LOL! This boutique hotel is splendid.

BTW, I might want to try hamman if we travel to Morocco. It’s the traditional Moroccan steam bath which is great for detox and destress.

So, tell me why my friend didn’t follow her husband to Morocco. I would definitely follow hubby there if he’s going!

Firstly, my hubby got a shock when I told him about my shopping plan at Platinum Fashion Mall as he knows that it’s huge and we will be walking for hours from one store to another. He knows that I will be the one buying and shopping, but he’s paying and holding all the stuffs. LOL! Tell me, which man is happy to do so? My hubby needs to be brainwashed to love shopping like I do.

I need to get some furniture, comforter sets and some stuffs for the house. I think it’s great if we can get them in cheaper prices as you can bargain at Platinum Fashion Mall. Besides that, there are lots of woman clothes available there and if I can have a whole new set of wardrobe, I won’t bring mine along. LOL! Just kidding la…

So, I hope that hubby will check out the location of where Platinum Fashion Mall is in Pratunam Area. We can just get a taxi but I prefer to drive there ourselves.

Ashcombe Maze & Water Gardens in Australia

Apr-11-2008 By shoppingmum

I have only been to Ashcombe Maze & Water Gardens once but it’s one of the nicest place in Victoria that I want to visit again. My boy likes maze a lot and I told him that one day we will bring him to a real maze where he has to find his way out, instead of playing maze on papers.

The Ashcombe Maze and Water Gardens is famous of its Hedge Maze. It’s really tall but we managed to find our ways out after a while. It’s not too hard though. There is a pretty Circular Rose Maze too but when I was there, the roses started falling off. We missed the blooming season. What a pity…

If you are there, don’t forget to snap more photos at the water gardens. I love the scenery but too bad I don’t have soft copies of the photos. If not, I’m willing to share!

Let’s see when will hubby and I have more money in our savings accounts and we can afford to have a family vacation in Melbourne. We supposed to go there this June but I guess our plan is canceled again due to our business in Bangkok. But never mind,  Ashcombe Maze and Water Gardens will always be around. :)

Star Cruise Gemini

Apr-11-2008 By shoppingmum

It’s been years since my last trip on a cruise and I wonder when will I have time for another cruise vacation? I received the promotional email about Star Cruise Gemini of 5 nights on board and travels from Port Klang to Penang, Krabi, Phuket and Langkawi. It’s not so much about where the cruise is going but I was thinking about spending some quality time with my kids before we fly to Bangkok without them.

Besides that, a friend of mine who’s just come back from a 2 weeks cruise in Australia said that having a cruise holiday is suitable for family with little children as we don’t have to go anyway but “stuck” on the ship filled with entertainment, food, games, and lots of sea view! LOL!

I wonder when will this promotion end? If hubby is interested, I don’t mind making a call and find out more about it.

Flying To Bangkok, Again…

Apr-9-2008 By shoppingmum

I’ve just bought our flight tickets to Bangkok this month from AirAsia. Surprisingly, the tickets only cost RM22 each, but after adding up with taxes and fees, it came up to RM700++ in total! I wonder why the extra fees are so expensive! Of course, I saved up a lot comparing to purchasing the flight tickets from MAS. But since we are frequent travelers to Bangkok, it’s best to get the cheapest tickets I can find. Besides that, it’s only a short distance between Penang or KL to Bangkok, I don’t need to extra comfortable on my flight.

We will only be there for 2 weeks, and it’s more like a business trip. Besides that, I have to move some stuffs over again, and this time, it’s more like packing up for my kids. They have so many toys, personalized baby clothes for their cousins there and lots of books! I wonder if we will exceed the 30kg load again?

Have You Ever Stayed At A Lousy Hotel?

Apr-7-2008 By shoppingmum

I’m quite particular when it comes to accommodation when we are traveling. I hate staying at places that creep me, or didn’t practice the hygiene up to my expectation. No wonder I only choose those hotels and resorts with 4 stars and above. LOL! But there are times when I can’t make my own choices and ended up staying at lousy places as well.

Let’s see how I classified a hotel room as lousy:

  1. You can see cockroaches running around. My friend just had this experience last weekend at Hotel Sri Petaling. :P
  2. The toilet flush is not working properly.
  3. The bottom of the tub is dirty. Oh ya, I can name a few hotels!
  4. The air-conditioning controller is not working well. You can really freeze to death spending a night in the room, if you don’t have thicker sheets and blanket!
  5. I hate those leather office chairs that make squeeky sound when you sit on them. Too spooky at night.
  6. A noisy hotel where you can hear everything from the next room. Let’s see…First World Genting Hotel? :P
  7. Smelly room. Yeap, smelly.
  8. Don’t ever push the beds away, like trying to join 2 single beds together. Sometimes, you will be surprised with the rubbish or dirt found underneath the beds!
  9. Any rooms with lights that keep flashing or not working well.
  10. The last but not least, a room without “something else” in it. I had a bad experience in Cameron Highlands where one of the drawers opened by itself. Don’t ask where’s the place. I don’t want to remember its name.
