In My Mind

Jun-24-2008 By shoppingmum

I’ve been so busy since the day I arrived in Bangkok, and we still don’t have time for sightseeing or holiday. We are relocating here, so I guess we will have plenty of time later. But after being so busy for some time, I really yearn for a nice trip away where I can dip myself in the water or sunbathing all day long…

Let’s see hope that my vacation is coming sooner than I thought.

Bangkok Tomorrow!

Jun-12-2008 By shoppingmum

I’m leaving for Bangkok tomorrow. This time, I won’t be shopping like crazy at Bangkok International Airport upon arrival as my kids are coming along. I can’t possibly shop for the best anti wrinkle cream by carrying a 11kg in my arms and helping hubby with 3 big luggage bags!

So, it’s going to be a new beginning for us as we are not there for holiday, but we are settling down. Hopefully, my kids will love the house.

Counting Down…

Jun-10-2008 By shoppingmum

I’m not sure if we will have time to travel around Bangkok but we are definitely going to be there in days. It’s going to be a new beginning for my family and hopefully my kids will like the new house.

I’ve almost done our packing and I only need to pack my laptop, camera, chargers, video card and etc before leaving this country. We will still be back but I’m not sure when will it be. Maybe it’s a month from now or more than that, only hubby can decide on the date based on his business.

So, all the best to us!

Thai Food vs Home Cooking

Jun-10-2008 By shoppingmum

We are leaving to Bangkok soon and this time, it’s the real relocation. We will still be coming back here but hubby can’t be so sure about the date yet. We have to kick start the business now if we want to make a living in Bangkok!

I love Thai food and we ate out on our previous trips. Nonetheless, I think it’s time to start cooking at home since my kids are going to stay there for a longer period. I can’t just let them eat out all the time and lose control of their nutrients intake. Besides that, I don’t want to gain weight faster and suffer myself with generic Phentermine in losing weight! I really hate to be fat again. :P

I wanted to get some recipe books over, but we are overload. But never mind, it’s not too hard to search for home cook free. :)

Rough Handling of Luggage

Jun-10-2008 By shoppingmum

I don’t buy expensive luggage like Zero Halliburton because the luggage are always spoiled by the rough handling of the airport. I’ve seen the zippers broken and the corner of my luggage torn when I picked them up at the conveyor. I’m not sure what’s the reason, but it’s sad to see how rough they were being handled.

But then again, it’s not an easy job loading and unloading the luggage. I boarded a plane in a thunderstorm once at LCCT and the workers had to load the bags in the heavy rain. They were all wet and so were our bags. So, as long as I can find my bags and everything is safely kept inside, there’s nothing more to ask.

Fraud Cases in Petaling Street

Jun-9-2008 By shoppingmum

I overheard from the radio that there are some fraud cases in selling pirated DVDs in Petaling Street, and some buyers were being threatened to pay in hundreds of ringgit just for a pirated CD. Firstly, everyone knows that it’s illegal to buy pirated CDs but in our country, you just can’t deny that there is a great market for pirated stuffs. But if someone will have to pay so much to get one, why don’t we just go for originals?

Besides that, I don’t really like to shop at those stalls in Chi Cheong Kai. Those people are so rude and if you have no intention to buy anything, just don’t touch their stuffs. They will scold you in all those vulgar words that make you so embarrassed about yourself. I got a very bad experience more than 10 years ago, so I told myself never buy anything from there again. It’s not like I’m desperate for pirated Festina watches or LV handbags which I can just buy the originals!!!

So there you go. One of our tourist attraction in Malaysia is rotting and chasing people away. Maybe the stallholders are more friendly to foreigners but rude to our own kind. That does it, let’s see if they can make a good living selling fake stuffs to angmohs.

Free and Easy Trip

Jun-9-2008 By shoppingmum

I tried free and easy trip in Bangkok and Melbourne before, so I’m quite comfortable to the idea. Personally, I think that it’s important to get international license in advance and get a good map for the places of interests. If you really don’t feel like driving, then pay for local tour guides which provide transport as well. I guess that’s what I will suggest to my friends if they don’t want to drive in Bangkok. We have our car there, so I don’t see the point of us getting a car rental, even if it’s a bigger car. :P

Besides that, hubby might not be able to join us all the time as he needs to work. They are coming on Monday to Friday, thus he can’t get a week off just like that. We are starting a new biz, so it’s not as easy as it’s seen initially.

Anyway, getting a car rental should not be too hard, but paying for the petrol is another case. LOL! Malaysians are shouting about paying for expensive petrol, but all the while, Thai people are using expensive fuel.

But at least they will save up on accommodation and use that money for Hilton Head rental later. LOL! We still need to pay for the rooms in Pattaya, if we are going there.

Luggage Overload

Jun-4-2008 By shoppingmum

Hubby warned me not to buy too many things this month. I’ve packed 3 luggages but we only have a maximum load of 60kg since we are flying with AirAsia. I have reached the margin of 58kg, but I haven’t finished packing all my stuffs! There are still some skincare products and cosmetics which I can’t live without in Bangkok!

Too bad I can’t put too many things in my hand carry. I have two kids tugging along, so if hubby and I would to carry each of them, it will be best to have a lighter load. Thank god I don’t have any Boston resumes or papers to be brought along except my laptop. That’s the most important thing in my hand carry bag!

I wonder if I should repack the luggages, but unpacking is a troublesome process. Worse comes to worst, hubby will have to pay for the overload weight, just like what we did previously. Hopefully, he’s not paying as much as he did on our previous flight!

Where To Go During School Holiday?

Jun-3-2008 By shoppingmum

If I’m not too busy about relocating, I will be planning for short trips during this school holiday. It’s quite boring if little children have to stay at home all the time. If we are not going away, I would probably bring my kids to KL last week. Besides that, I was thinking about making a trip to Pangkor Island since one of hubby’s friends owns a hotel there.

But what worries me the most is how congested the traffic especially on the highway. If you are caught in a bad crawl, it will take at least double the usual time to reach your destination, so it’s not what I have in mind for a short trip.

So, for this coming week, my kids will be staying at home and spend more time with their cousins. They can just play or watch DVD a few times a day. LOL! As long as they are not tearing down the furniture or tv wall mount, I will let them have as much freedom as possible.

So, where are you going during this school holiday?

Pattaya Thailand

I’ve been to Pattaya a few times for holiday, but that was the days before I became a mother. It’s such a nice place for holiday, and I have always loved the beaches. My hubby loves to play golf there, and there are a few popular international golf courses which are designed by Nicklaus, Dye and Faldo, and hubby said it’s quite challenging for amateurs like him.

But what I really want to do in Pattaya is sunbathing and enjoying the spa. I would normally go to the spa in the hotels, but there are a few spa in the city area, so you can always drop by after some sightseeing or shopping in the city area.

I wanted to bring my friends there in September, but their schedule is a bit packed for Pattaya. They don’t feel like wasting 2 days there as it’s best to spend a night at one of those hotels in Pattaya, instead of having a day trip from Bangkok. Besides that, it would be best to catch one of those ladyboy cabaret shows which is famous in Thailand. I quite like the shows and I took some photos with the pretty ladyboys too. LOL!

Too bad I can’t remember where did I stay for my trips to Pattaya. I can’t even recall if the rentals were as expensive as those St. Barts villa rentals. But it’s always nice to stay at a new hotel each time we go there. Furthermore, I will be going with my kids now, so it’s going to be a different experience. Mmm….I wonder when can hubby arrange a family trip to Pattaya?
