Grand Palace Tomorrow

Sep-26-2008 By shoppingmum

Hubby just told me that we will be going to the Grand Palace in Bangkok tomorrow and I’m excited about it! It’s been years since my last visit, and my kids haven’t been there before. This time, I will prepare bentos for them and bring along their sunblock, just in case it’s sunny tomorrow! I hope that I won’t have an outbreak being in the sun again as I don’t want to try cystic acne treatment.

But then, if I put sufficient amount of sunblock, I should be alright. I still have the tan after Pattaya!

All Plans Canceled

Sep-23-2008 By shoppingmum

Most of our vacation plans have been canceled for the past 2 years. Firstly, our family trip to Melbourne was canceled last December since we had to fly over to Bangkok to check out the business opportunity but then, my kids visited Thailand for the first time, so it’s sort of like a family vacation in a different venue.

Then again, we can’t decide if we will have a vacation abroad this year as hubby is busy with his new business and my kids have been flying every 3 months. I try to minimize the traveling frequency so that they won’t miss too much school days or get tired about this.

Our 10 years anniversary honeymoon to Hawaii next year might not be materialized too as hubby sort of like forgetting about it. I know that he has too many things in mind now, so it’s not surprising that he can’t remember about this trip next year. Gee…I feel like my passport is only a document for me to come to Bangkok and flying back home only. Sigh…

We dropped by Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden and Resort when we went to Pattaya last week. It’s such a nice garden for photography, and I snapped so many photos that day! Too bad my second memory card had some problem and I lost all the photos in it. But never mind, I might visit this garden again some day to snap more photos.

My kids had a good time at the mini zoo, but there are not a lot of animals here. However, little kids can still have fun petting the goats, sheep, horses and others.

I’m quite disappointed with the butterfly farm as there are not a lot of butterflies there. Besides that, I think our Butterfly Farm in Penang is better managed that this farm.

We arrived here in the evening, so we missed all the shows. I do hope to see the cultural show, while my kids are keen to watch the elephant show. Thus, if possible, I hope that we can spend a night here at the Thai traditional wooden house. However, BIL said it’s too spooky and he preferred the modern resort rooms.

I wonder if they have any Halloween invitations and promotions here next month? I surely want to stay at that wooden house. LOL!

Pattaya Beach

Sep-17-2008 By shoppingmum

I thought this trip to Pattaya will not come true any sooner but I was wrong. We went to Pattay last Sunday and it’s a fun. It was sunny that day, despite the fact that it’s raining season in Bangkok.

It was a day trip, so it’s pretty tiring. Next time, we will come here for a stay. It’s been years since my last visit to Pattaya, so everything has changed a lot here.

The beaches are great, but it’s not as clean as before. I guess tourism is not always good for nature huh? But someone told me it’s due to the tides too. So, no matter what, the beach has to be cleaned up.

Nonetheless, we still had a good time picnicking and sunbathing by the beach. I have always love the beach and you bet I was really enjoying myself. There are a few topless women here, but I didn’t even bring along my bikini. I can’t possibly put one on without using any weight loss product for months. LOL!

Anyway, I am really tanned now. It’s very sunny that day, but I love it.

By Train from Bangkok to Butterworth

Sep-11-2008 By shoppingmum

Our of the blue, my hubby suggested that we use the train on our next trip back from Bangkok to Penang. Frankly, I’m not so keen since it’s going to take 24 hours for the trip and we can only get 2nd class tickets. Why can’t we get 1st class tickets? Is the information here is up to date?

I hate the idea of having passengers walking around especially at bedtime. I don’t think my kids can sleep well and I will be wide awake the whole night taking care of them. We can only use the curtains for more privacy, and I don’t quite like the idea!

Besides that, how about our belongings? Is it safe to leave all our luggages at our seats and take a tour to other compartment? What are we going to do in 24 hours? I don’t think network switches are available and I can’t use internet huh? :P

Gosh, I’m so against this idea of going back to Penang by train.

Bangkok in State of Emergency

Sep-6-2008 By shoppingmum

My friends postponed their trip to Bangkok, and said they won’t be coming next week. Bangkok is in the state of emergency and it’s scaring tourists away. Some countries issued warning that their people are not advised to travel to Bangkok, but frankly, the situation is not too bad in most places. However, I can understand their stand point as no one wants to get hurt on a vacation.

Thailand futures trading, tourism, economy and world image are badly affected now. Hopefully, the government and non government will resolve their issues ASAP before more damage is done.
