Songkran in Thailand

Apr-28-2009 By shoppingmum

Songkran is new year to Thai people and it’s celebrated on 13th to 15th April annually. It’s a water splashing event, and my first Songkran was celebrated in Khao San, where lots of tourists and locals gather to get wet together! It sounds like fun, but personally, I don’t like it. :P I don’t mind about the water, but I hate the powder on my face.

I guess you don’t have to dress well during Songkran. Unless you are in certain parts of Bangkok city where water splashing is not allowed, for other areas, you will most lightly be splashed by the locals.

These are some of the photos taken during my Songkran holiday. After seeing how the local Thai people splashing water everywhere, I decided to stay at the resort and stuff myself with junks until I need some weight loss pills.

I shall update about my trips soon.

Will There Be a Year End Vacation Away?

Apr-4-2009 By shoppingmum

It’s very sunny here in Bangkok. Songkran is just around the corner, and it’s the hottest season in Thailand now. But luckily, it rains heavily once a while and it cools the temperature down.

But I don’t really like the heat, it’s too hot for me. I only like it when it’s winter in Thailand, when it’s cool and windy. Too bad that winter only lasted more than a month here, and it’s back to summer again.

Frankly, I hope that we can afford to spend a nice holiday for an oversea trip this year, but judging from the current economy situation, it’s best not to spend on fancy holiday. But if money is not a concern, I guess it would be nice to bring our kids to Europe. I’ve always fascinated about traveling in Europe, but it’s an expensive trip. Nonetheless, we should really save up and travel there as least once in a life time.

My friends who’ve gone to Europe told me so much about Italy, and so did my brother. It’s so rich in culture and nice architecture, but we have to beware of pick pockets! Nonetheless, I guess I won’t have a lot of problem planning for a trip to Italy. It seems pretty easy to find a hotel jesolo such as the Park Hotel Brasilia. This hotel is situated in the East area of Lido di Jesolo, and it claimed to have  nice decoration in the room as well as its stunning landscape. I did a quick search of hotel jesolo lido, and I found some reviews about Park Hotel Brasilia. Some are good, but some are not. But the hotel staffs did give their explanation to the non-satisfied customers.

Nonetheless, there are also other hotel 4 stelle jesolo to choose from, if you are interested to stay in this area. I will look for more if we are really going. For the time being, money rules instead of my traveling desire!

Sak Phu Duen Hotel & Resort

Apr-3-2009 By shoppingmum

I came across Sak Phu Duen Hotel & Resort while checking out the resorts near to Khao Yai National Park. This resort is only 9km away from Khao Yai but it’s the room pricing that caught my eyes. I’m not sure how nice the resort is as they don’t have a lot of photos from their official website. The rooms look pretty common to me, or maybe they have zero radius sinks at the bathrooms? LOL!

I better search the net and see if this resort gets good reviews.

5 minutes later…after checking some reviews…

It seems like this place is on 3-star and not really a popular spot. Dirty water in the pool! That’s enough to keep me away. :P

Sunset at Jomtien Beach

Apr-3-2009 By shoppingmum

My kids miss the days we spent at Chomwana Resort and Horse Club. They just can’t wait to pack their equestrian apparel and go pony riding again.

But to me, I miss the beach at Jomtien, which is just 15 minutes away from the resort. I won’t say that the beach is nice, but it’s relaxing sitting there in the evening looking at sunset.

Most importantly, I spent the evenings with my loved ones.

That’s quality time to me.

Out of Photos!

Apr-2-2009 By shoppingmum

I was looking through my cheap computer memory, and found that I’ve almost blogged about most of the places I went in Thailand. Gee…I really need to go traveling again for the sake of updating this blog. LOL!

I guess I’m really looking forward for our short break in 2 weeks. I hope that I can snap a lot of photos, so stay tune.

Postpone Our Camping Plan

Apr-2-2009 By shoppingmum

After some discussion with hubby, we decided to postpone our camping trip until some time later. Firstly, we don’t have most of the camping and safety equipment needed for camping, and it will be very costly to buy a lot of them now, and I am out of space of keeping the stuffs at home. Our kids are still very young and we won’t be going for camping often, so I don’t want to spend a lot on camping gears yet.

Furthermore, it’s summer here and it’s so hot at night. I can’t imagine myself sleeping in the open when it’s so hot at night and there are mosquitoes! It seems like the mozzies are lesser in winter when the weather is colder.

So, no camping this time, but I am still looking for a resort near Khao Yai National Park.

Sida Resort in Nakhon Nayok

Apr-2-2009 By shoppingmum

Hubby finally booked a room at Sida Resort in Nakhon Nayok, and he found that it’s cheaper to book online instead of getting the room from the resort directly. As long as the room is secured, who cares where and how he booked the room from? LOL!

But he only got one of those New Deluxe room which is more for our budget. We are going to Nakhon Nayok for a few days, so we don’t want to spend a lot on accommodation. Besides that, hubby wanted to change resort every night. :P

The room looks simple but since it’s situated by Nangrong waterfall, I guess I will enjoy the nice view. If we can spend more on the rooms, I would like to spend the nights at Haruman.

I like the furniture which looks like you are living as warlord of Phraram in Rammakient epic. This room looks very romantic to me!

10th Year Holiday Dream

Apr-1-2009 By shoppingmum

This is the 10th year of hubby and I being together, and when we first started dating, we had a plan of going for a nice holiday on our 10th anniversary together. Unfortunately, I don’t think that plan can come through. We have just started our business a year ago in a foreign land, and until today, we are still “surviving” on our savings. We should be making money by now, but the market is very slow, and our business is not progressing as expected. Thus, we have to put our traveling plan aside, and use our money wisely. With 2 young children who studying here in Bangkok, we can’t afford to fool around with our money because we have to think about our children first.

But if money is not a concern, I do hope that hubby and I can go for a holiday. I have a few countries in mind, and one of them is UK. I haven’t been there but hubby went to a few places in UK before. I guess he won’t mind going to London again, if I asked him too. There are so much to see and so much to do in London, and I definitely want to go there one day.

I guess we can go on a budget trip, but I won’t stay at any hostels london. LOL! Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mind eating out at cheap restaurants, but I can’t compromise on the place I spend the nights at. I think I can easily find a nice hotel from Qype which is within my budget. Qype has basically almost everything you need to know about traveling to London. Oh well, maybe not everything, but at least you can find a lot of information, including indian restaurants london, places with fine cuisines, various attractions in London, and also traveling tips in London.

So, I’m praying hard that hubby will close some good deals or strike a lottery this year. Then, maybe our 10th year holiday plan can still come through! LOL!
