Impact Muang Thong Thani

May-30-2009 By shoppingmum

I have been to Impact Muang Thong Thani a few times, and my first visit to this hall was to help hubby with an exhibition. It’s a exhibition hall and most of the major exhibitions are held here at Impact Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi. My latest trip there was to visit BIG / BIH 2009 which sells a lot of household products.

Those were some shots I took at BIG recently.

I wanted to go to the lastest exhibition, which is Paradise’s Expo 2009 that features furniture expo, wedding , fashion and jewelry, food expo, family & child expo, traveling expo and many more. But hubby is not around, so it’s hard to make a trip there, considering that the halls will be very crowded and I’m tagging along my kids. So, I miss this year’s Paradise Expo again. Gee…Previously, I missed the beauty and spa expo too, and I thought of checking out some spa package and probably looking for some eye creams or skincare products which I’ve never tried.

So, if you are interested to check out these expos, you can always refer to Impact Muang Thong Thani’s official website for coming events. I just hope that I don’t miss out so many exhibitions again.

Thai Miniature Handicraft

May-30-2009 By shoppingmum

I know the flowers look real, but it’s a miniature handicraft which I saw at Sida Resort. I’ve seen these miniatures at some Thai fairs a couple of times, and I’ve always attracted to them. They are so detailed and nicely done!

These miniatures are nice decoration pieces, and I would love to have some one day. Firstly, I have to get myself a cabinet to place the miniatures and make sure that my kids won’t break them!

I don wonder how the miniatures are made? It’s so detailed and small, and just imagine bending the material just to fix some Grohe faucets and a small bouquet of flowers! You really need talent and patience for this.

If you ever come here to Thailand, and if you bump into any store selling these miniatures, do consider them as souvenirs. :)

No Annual Vacation After All

May-29-2009 By shoppingmum

The economy is very bad this year, and thus I don’t think we have the budget for our annual family vacation. I can totally forget our honeymoon too as we have only done this twice, throughout our 10 years of courtship and marriage. It’s so hard to plan for a romantic trip for hubby and I, especially since we started a family, so my main priority is always a family trip first.

At first, I thought of getting the cheap flight tickets to Melbourne by AirAsia, but then we are not sure about our schedule and how much we can save up for this trip. With my kids getting older, we need to allocate more money for their education, and hubby’s business is not growing much yet. He’s been doing his best and working hard for us, so the money can’t be used for a fancy holiday this year, or the years to come.

But hubby said he shall try and make a few deals, and if they come through, then we might have the budget for a vacation to Australia next year. I hope that we can make it in winter so that my kids can play in the snow for the first time. Besides that, I know how much hubby misses skiing, and he’s a good skier. I guess his North face jackets are eager to come out from the closet and hit the sunshine and snowy skiing ground too. LOL!

We shall see how things go in a few months, but I am not putting hope on having a vacation. It’s spending quality time together that matters the most and we can do this even by having short and budget trips in Thailand. :)

H1N1 on Global Travel

May-19-2009 By shoppingmum

I guess everyone will choose not to travel for the time being since the outbreak of H1N1 has finally hit our region. Hubby might make a business trip on pressure washers soon and I’m quite worried about it. It’s so unsafe to travel right now, and I can totally forget about planning for a holiday trip abroad. No point risking our lives just for vacation huh?

The Bridge on the River Kwai

The Bridge on the River Kwai

The Bridge on the River Kwai, is not only a novel or a movie, it’s always a historical spot in Kanchanaburi. We made a trip there after spending some time at Erawan waterfall, and by the time we reached there, the museum was closed and we didn’t manage to get a visit. Some said there is nothing interested about the museum, but anyway, we were too late to check it out.

Some photos outside the museum building.

We walked on the railway track for awhile, but we didn’t go across the bridge. It looks pretty dangerous for kids to do so, and I didn’t want to take the risk of my kids falling into the river.

The railway track on the bridge.

I found that there are some stalls selling ivory products here, but for the sake of the elephants, please don’t buy any ok?

If you are interested to see the bridge, check out the travel deals for Kanchanaburi. I think most of the tour agendas will include this bridge.

Erawan Waterfall in Kanchanaburi

May-16-2009 By shoppingmum

We made a trip to Kanchanaburi a couple of weeks ago, and our first stop was Erawan National Park. It took us a few hours to get there, but the trip was worth it. Erawan Waterfall is one of the most popular waterfalls in Thailand, and it’s not hard to see why.

This place might not be as well developed as Outer Banks, but if you love the nature, it’s the place for you. There are 7 levels of this waterfall, and if you come in early, you can explore the top part of the waterfall. We arrived here 30 minutes before the national park closed, so we could not make it to the top.

This park closes at 4.30pm, but it opens quite early in the morning. If you are a foreigner, you have to pay more for the entrance fee, but it’s not going to cost you a bomb.

Most of the visitors are here for picnic and a dip in the clean clear water. You can even swim side by side with the fish!

I would say this place is great, and so far, I’ve been to a few waterfalls in Thailand, Erawan seems to be my favorite one. Maybe I haven’t explored the rest yet, but Erawan waterfall is good enough for me. I should plan for another trip to Kanchanaburi again.

Our Stay at Sida Resort in Nakhon Nayok

May-9-2009 By shoppingmum

We spent a night at Sida Resort, Nakhon Nayok during Songkran, and the place was not as packed as excepted. Most of the guests had already checked out on the day we arrived, so it’s a relaxing stay as I don’t like a resort which is too packed or noisy.

We didn’t book for the villa but just a simple room.

Too bad the bed is too small for us…

But I like the view.

If you are here with a group of people, it’s best to stay at the villas.

We spent the first day at the resort, and there are a few recreational activities for you to choose from.

My kids enjoyed horse riding, horse cart riding, and swimming mostly.

But for me, I preferred to stay away from the sun. Thus, I went for massage. But it’s not as good as I hoped for, and I felt like it’s a waste of money. I should have done a background check and see if the massage is good at this resort before trying it out.

Some of the photos which I’ve taken are:

It’s just for decoration, but this place is nice for an afternoon tea.

This resort is not any 5 star resort, but it’s not that bad. There are not a lot of choices in Nakhon Nayok, so if you are traveling to Nakhon Nayok, you might have to shortlist Sida Resort as one of your options.
