Flying Home Soon

Aug-28-2009 By shoppingmum

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I decided to bring our kids home during their term break for a month. I will be going with them only, so without hubby, I have to pack light. No discount moving boxes of toys and books are going with the kids home!

My boy should be able to help out as he’s more mature now. I just hope that my gal won’t give me such a fuss when we are rushing to the airport in the early morning, and walk to the terminals hundreds of meters away.

Kids, please be good.

Taking A Bus???

Aug-26-2009 By shoppingmum

My hubby is weird. He likes taking buses for long distance trips while I hate it. I think it’s a waste of time, but he said he can just sleep and rest on the journey until the destination. He plans to take the bus to Haatyai and then from Haatyai to Ipoh by bus too. He did this once and he said it’s alright to me. O.o

Actually, he won’t save much by doing so comparing to flying, but he hates to fly to the airport and wait for the bus to be back to Ipoh. He wants to have connective bus and just sit there and relax. I really cannot imagine myself being on the bus for such long hours! Even if I won the free online auctions for free bus trips, I don’t think I will go for it. LOL!

No More Holiday

Aug-26-2009 By shoppingmum

My kids have been asking us to go back to Chiangmai for some time, but I don’t think we can make it this year. A lot of things have turned up and hubby is so busy building his biz while I need to settle the money issue on our kids school fee. Sigh…I don’t think we have the budget for more holiday.

I want my parents to be here in December, just for a short stay, but they can’t make it either. My grandpa is in critical condition now, and all the cancer treatment & prescriptions can’t help him anymore. I should have gone back to see him one last time, but my kids are schooling, and they can’t skip school now. I hope that he can make it till our kids’ holiday, then maybe we can make a trip back.

Frankly, I’m not in the mood for holiday too. Too many things running in my head and I can’t seem to find the solutions for all of them…

Ramada Resort, Karon Beach, Phuket

Aug-16-2009 By shoppingmum

Despite the increasing cases of H1N1, we are still going to Phuket in November. I’ve booked our room at Ramada Resort, which is located along Karon Beach. It’s a family friendly resort, and the price is reasonable too.

At first, I wanted to get the theme rooms but our kids are too young to sleep separated from us in a new place. So, we are taking the deluxe room with extra bed.

I can’t wait for the trip as we will have a family potrait photo shooting done in Phuket, and being a photo freak myself, I will surely take a lot of photos. Thus, maybe I should really consider online backup for the thousands of photos in my laptop!

Khlong Suan Old Market

Aug-13-2009 By shoppingmum

Hubby suggested that we went for a trip to Khlong Suan 100 year old market, Chacheongsao yesterday, and I was looking forward to the trip. But then, we left home in the late morning and it was very sunny. The journey took close to 2 hours from the city, and I was in a crappy mood. I really hated the sun! Furthermore, it was so stuffy and hot at this market, and even if it’s roofed, my mood was still pretty bad. I really thought I would have an outbreak soon and needed an acne treatment if I stayed there a minute longer. :P

That’s why I didn’t have mood to snap more photos and I didn’t change my lense. Now I realized that I did a big mistake of not making good use of this opportunity for photo shooting. Some of the photos are quite nice, if the lense is f1.8. Sigh…too bad…

Amusing mugs.

Old books

Antic toys.

Handicrafts

Colorful Thai food.

Preparing buns with charcoal!

Very old stall selling pork rice.

This grocery store looks like the one I used to go when I was a little girl.

I feel like walking back on memory lane as I’m looking at this photo of the rattan rocking horses.

My gal’s checking out the toy stall.

You can even buy buns from the boat seller.

In short, it’s not only an old market, it’s a place where you may recollect your childhood memory too. Too bad I told hubby I don’t want to return to this market again. :P So, I guess I won’t be back here again. Too bad…

Camping Trips

Aug-13-2009 By shoppingmum

Our kids are very disappointed that our camping trips have been canceled twice due to the rainy season, so hubby really hopes that he can bring them camping at least once this year. It would be a wiser plan to go camping at the end of the year when it’s less likely to rain as the weather is cooler at night. During December, the temperature might drop to 11 deg or less in the city at night if it’s really cold. But I guess the temperature will drop further for national parks or northern Thailand.

So, if hubby is really serious about this, he should start preparing for the trip. We have a tent but I don’t think it can fit all 4 of us. Furthermore, we don’t have Sleeping bags, so we really need to buy some in order not to shiver in the cold at night!

I found this Dreamtime XL from Thermarest  at Webtogs just now and I think this is perfect for us! We might only need to buy 2 sets as our kids can tug in with each of us throughout the nights. It offers warmth and comfort with a pillow top, so I don’t have to worry about our kids getting cold in the woods at night.

There is an end of summer sale right now and we can get 10% discount on this sleeping bag, if we purchase one. Too bad the shipping is quite expensive for us who stay in Asia! Nonetheless, free shipping is available across Europe. It’s a great bargain, so do check it out!

Gee…I wonder if I can find this at our local stores?
