Not So Pleasant Flight with AirAsia

Sep-26-2009 By shoppingmum

The only thing I like about AirAsia is the affordable flight. I’ve been flying with AirAsia for some time now and most of our flight between Malaysia and Bangkok were booked from AirAsia. Previously, we flew a lot between 2 homes, so we opt for the best flight deal we could get.

But something happened this morning and I am quite annoyed by it. This is my booking detail:
Supersize Regular (Up to 15kg): 100.00THB

Supersize Large (Up to 25kg): 1,550.00THB

Combo Meal: 160.00THB

Sandwich/Hot Dog: 60.00THB

Advance Seat Request Fee: 1,500.00THB

I don’t mind paying more for bigger luggage, even if I think this is totally “money sucking”. But what I really hate is, I ordered a combo meal, but they gave me 3 sets of sandwiches. Not even the hotdog for my gal!!! It’s started in my boarding pass that all 3 prebooked meals were sandwiches, but hey, who knows how to read the codes? Not that I’m working with AirAsia right?

When the flight stewardess handed me the sandwiches, I told her that I ordered a set of combo meal and hotdog. But then, she said my boarding pass started sandwiches. If it’s not because of my 2 hungry kids, I would remember to take out my itinerary and show it to her. Lousy la. How can the person at the counter key in wrongly?

Kill my mood of shopping for business gifts at Penang International Airport only…

Counting Down…

Sep-21-2009 By shoppingmum

I’m counting down to my flight home which is coming soon. I shall start packing, but I can only pack light as I will only check in a luggage. Furthermore, I’m tagging alone with my 2 kids, without hubby’s help, so my hand luggage has to be light too. No Mp3 players, no makeup and skincare loaded bag, minimum toys and books and just an extra pair of shoes!

But then, I can always shop when I get home, and I already inform hubby to bring another luggage, if he’s coming to pick us up.

Sattahip Beach

Sep-21-2009 By shoppingmum

Our friend invited us for a weekend stay at his place which is very near Sattahip beach, Chonburi. It’s very near to both Pattaya and Rayong, but I’ve never heard about it before. Thus, I was delighted when hubby told me about this weekend stay, and we visited the beach at Sattahip Naval Base, which is open to public in the weekends.

Despite the rubbish and stray dogs, this beach is still nice and “clean”. At least it’s much better than Pattaya beach, but please don’t compare it with one of those Green Study and unpolluted beaches like Ban Krut.

It’s a nice outing spot for kids as the beach is quite wide, and you can enjoy the swallow sea water and waves. Besides that, the shady tall trees provide a great spot for picnic, so don’t forget your picnic mat!

We stayed there for the whole evening until sunset. I think we will drop by this beach again, especially after our break back to Malaysia.

Raya Celebration at Indonesia Embassy

Sep-21-2009 By shoppingmum

I was invited to attend the Hari Raya celebration at Indonesia Embassy, and it was an eye opening for me to see such a lovely house which houses the ambassador, of course. :P

It was a sunny Sunday, so it would be nice to take some photos in the garden and at the pond. But too bad, missy here is too afraid of the sun. LOL! So, here are a few shots taken in the house, during the open house party.

The ambassadors of Republic of Indonesia

The dining table for the VIPs.

I guess this is the greeting area for VIP too as it was locked and we were not allowed to attend. I wonder if they keep any Dutch Master cigars there? :P

The decorations showed their rich culture.

The loving painting.

There is a lot of pretty lighting too.

I like the China lamp, which is placed at the…

…cosy family area, maybe?

In short, it was a nice visit to a lovely house. How I wish I can have a nice and BIG house like this!

Autumn Leaves in Japan

Sep-21-2009 By shoppingmum

Many years ago, I worked as an engineer and I was in-charged of a few machines involving in front line process of microchip chips. One of the machine manufacturers was from Japan, so I had a chance of going for training in Japan, but I gave up. I resigned and started my own biz, thus I missed a chance of visiting Japan at company’s expenses. :P

Frankly, I really wish to visit Japan, on all seasons. But if possible, I hope to make my first trip in autumn. I’ve seen a lot of nice photos of autumn leaves in Japan, and I really hope to snap my own photos there. Too bad we have just started our biz a year ago in Bangkok, and with my kids expensive schooling fees, we can’t afford a nice holiday abroad yet, let alone any of those plasma mounts for flat screen TV!

However, I shall list down a few autumn destination, and maybe one day I have a chance of visiting these few places:

  • Kyoto
  • Hakone
  • Nikko
  • Kamakura
  • Hokkaido

I think Kyoto will be one my number choice in autumn since I’ve seen so many nice photos of Kyoto.

So, I better pester hubby to work harder and make more money faster so that I can find my dream trip to Japan next year or a year after. LOL!

Raya Holiday

Sep-18-2009 By shoppingmum

It’s Raya holiday in M’sia, and my friend is extending his stay here in Bangkok. He’s having a good time here, feasting on Thai food, enjoying the massage and hanging out in Silom. *wink* But I think he needs some diet pills to shed off some weight when he gets home! LOL!

So, to my friends back home, have a nice holiday and Selamat Hari Raya Puasa.

Queen Sirikit National Convention Center

Sep-18-2009 By shoppingmum

I love checking out the fairs at Impact Muang Thong Thani and I’ve just visited the jewerly fair at Impact days ago. I shall blog about it later, but too bad, I didn’t snap any photos as camera is not allowed.

Nonetheless, I haven’t been to Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Maybe it’s quite far away from my area, but my friend is there now for the Medical Fair Thailand 2009. I wonder if there is any Medifast discount at the fair right now?

If you are interested to check out the fairs held at Queen Sirikit, here is the website. But still, I found that the fairs at Impact are more for normal people like me. :P

Taxi Ride in Bangkok

Sep-18-2009 By shoppingmum

I had a date with an old friend last night, and I took the cab to the city. I could have driven, but I am not good at remember routes. :P Furthermore, I don’t have an gps so getting a cab is a safer choice.

Most of the taxis in Bangkok are clean and good, and they charge by meters. But then, the taxi drivers speed a lot and it can be quite scary to a timid passenger like me. There was once when I got out of the cab because the taxi driver drove like a mad man, and it almost scared me to death! Most of the taxis don’t have safety belts at the back seats, so it seems very dangerous to me, especially if my kids are tagging along.

so, if you are getting a cab in Bangkok and if you think the driver is driving too fast, just tell them “char char” which means slow. I say “rot char char” some times too, if it’s too fast for me to handle. :P

Flying Back with Kids

Sep-7-2009 By shoppingmum

It might seem too early to pack for our trip home, but I have to “prepare” my kids well. We are taking the early flight, so my kids need to get up very early in the morning so that we don’t miss our flight. We missed a flight once when we went to Kuching, and it’s not a pretty sight!!! LOL!

I got the express boarding from AirAsia so that we don’t have to fight the crowd on boarding. It’s my first time flying alone with 2 kids, so I really want to make sure that we are boarding well instead of being pushed around. :P Unless you get the express boarding or you have social security disability, if you have ever fly with AirAsia, you might know that not everyone will queue up! :P

Anyway, there is still time to plan and pack. Talking about packing, I need to get my kids their trolley bags. Both of them are very eager to pack their own books and toys. LOL!

Guam

Sep-5-2009 By shoppingmum

I saw a TV program introducing how beautiful Guam is a holiday destination. I would surely hope to visit Guam one day and experience its beauty and leisure holiday. I’m still checking out if there is a direct flight from Bangkok to Guam? Mmm…Furthermore, I need to figure out the budget for a week stay in Guam for a family of 4.

I’m not planning for another holiday, except Phuket this year. I’m too broke to even change my kitchen faucet now, so I can’t afford another nice holiday. :P

But then, there is nothing wrong about checking out more interesting places to  go. :)
