Lebua Hotel at State Tower Bangkok

Nov-18-2009 By shoppingmum

I’ve just known a friend who’s been to Lebua lately and I’m so attracted to this 5-star hotel now. It’s Lebua, which is located at the State Tower of Bangkok and it has Bvlgari amenities!!! Bvlgari! Do you hear me?

By just looking at the photos already make me drooling for spending a night there. I would trade the money meant for rv insurance for a stay at Lebua. Of course, we don’t have an RV, so we don’t need the insurance. LOL!

The famous Sirocco Restaurant is situated at the Dome, but my friend told me that kids are not allowed. So, if we are going to stay there, I might not be able to dine in style at Sirocco. Sigh…

It’s Le Meridien Bangkok!

Nov-11-2009 By shoppingmum

I got it all wrong. I thought we are going to Hilton, but it’s actually Le Meridien Bangkok! Yippie!

Le Méridien Bangkok reaches 24 storeys into the City of Angel’s skyline, towering in contemporary five-star luxury at the head of the pulsating Silom commercial district and just metres from the energetic Patpong Night Market.

I’m equally happy as Le Meridien has always been a nice hotel. Ah…I would love to book my reservation at Le Meridien Bali next time, if we are going to Bali again. :)

Too bad I’m out of budget to buy something nice for myself for my birthday trip. If not, I would love to go there in my finest dress and Contemporary Jewelry. But anyway, I know that we will all have a good time at Le Meridien, with or without a nice piece of dress. :) It’s family moments that count!

Traveling Essentials

Nov-6-2009 By shoppingmum

I must bring a few stuffs with me whenever I’m on a trip, no matter how short or long the trip is. So, here’s my checklist:

  1. My skincare products is a must to me! I can’t leave without makeup, but I must have the complete skincare including a SPF 50 / PA+++ sunblock.
  2. Hair treatment mask. I don’t mind using the shampoo provided by the hotel, but I must have my hair mask. I hate frizzy hair on holiday.
  3. My dSLR and digital cameras for my kids and hubby. By giving my kids a camera, they will be able to snap anything they like and it makes them feel like tourists. LOL!
  4. A nice pair of wedge and Crocs. I don’t wear sports shoes, just my Crocs will do.
  5. Disposable undies. I hate to bring dirty underwear back after a trip. :P

I don’t mind not bringing enough clothes as you can normally buy those at the destinations, unless you are traveling to the jungle or else. :P

Winter in Thailand

Nov-4-2009 By shoppingmum

I think winter is here in Bangkok now, and it’s been windy and cool for the past 2 days. It’s only 26 deg by noon, so for the rest of the day, the weather is superb! Bye bye sunny days!!!!

My kids are going to school in jackets, but maybe my gal will be in her cape while my boy will put on his tuxedo vest when it’s not too cold. The weather is just nice, and it’s not too chilly yet. Last year, the temperature dropped to 11 deg at night and it’s super cold to us! But I love it.

Let’s hope that this winter will last longer…

Pai, Nothern Thailand

Nov-4-2009 By shoppingmum

One of the many hotel vouchers we bought is from a resort located in Pai. Pai is a small town in northern Thailand, but I heard that it’s a nice place to visit, if you keen for serenade and nature. We wanted to visit Pai during our trip to Chiangmai last year, but we could not make it due to tight schedule. There is no direct flight from Bangkok to Pai, but we can fly there from Chiangmai. So, let’s see how we plan this trip to Pai. Maybe we will spend a few days in Chiangmai again, if budget and time permit!

We will be staying at Montis Resort, Pai, Thailand, and it seems like a very nice resort.

I love boutique resorts which are not located in the hustle bustle of the city, and most importantly, I prefer nicely decorated resort. Maybe there is no Toto toilet there, but I bet the villas and suites are very nice at Montis.

Since this trip is just very much unplanned, I’m not sure where we will be going in Pai. Let’s see when will hubby be free to bring us there. :)

Can’t Wait for Similan Islands

Nov-3-2009 By shoppingmum

I’m looking at those photos at Similan Islands now and I can’t wait to be there. It’s such a nice holiday destination, especially if you are a diver or love snorkeling. Too bad we can’t do both as our kids are going along with us, but then again, maybe we are lucky to see this!!!

Whale shark!!! OMG! I will be in hysteria to see one. LOL! I wonder if we can one at the boat? Gee…We should go there again next time when the kids are older. :)

So for this trip, it’s more like sightseeing and enjoying the beach.

My kids will love the sandy beach and we can have lots of fun playing by the sea.

Hopefully, I can snap a lot of nice photos, especially one with a nice sunset.

I’m so glad that these islands are well taken care off and they are part of the national park. Forget about hiring cross country movers and move to Similan ok? It’s not for inhabitants. Let’s preserves its beauty and nature as much as possible. :)

Travel Fair at Impact Muang Thong Thani

Nov-2-2009 By shoppingmum

We went for the travel fair held at Impact Muang Thong Thani yesterday, but since it’s the last day of the fair, it’s very crowded with last minute shoppers. I got a few good deals last year at the fair and this year, we are not going to miss it!

We managed to buy a few hotel stays at affordable prices and we booked for a trip to Similan Islands during our stay in Phuket too.

Similan Islands is one of the best diving and snorkeling destination in Thailand, and it’s a well preserved national park. But do take note that:

Please note: The Similan Islands National Park is closed to ALL access from May 15th to November 1st each year. This is due to the weather conditions. It is not possible to visit the park or the surrounding waters during this time. Any operator selling you a tour during that time is not only breaking the law – but risking YOUR life.

I just can’t wait to check out how pretty the islands are. :)

Besides that, we found something interesting for the kids:

A submarine ride!!! And you can just board on deck from Pattaya. Why haven’t I known about this? Please check out www.Thaisubmarine.com for more details. That’s something we will do on our next trip to Pattaya.

There are a lot of travel agencies with travel packages abroad too, but we didn’t get any. With our tight travel budget,  I can only plan a few short trips in Thailand. It’s a bit pathetic, but as long as we manage to spend some quality time together, I better stop complaining. :P

Oh ya, I found Cuti-cuti Malaysia too. LOL! I managed to snap some photos of the stage performance by standing near the tv stand, but I don’t think the dancers are Malaysian. :P They look like local Thais to me. LOL!
