Fraud Cases in Petaling Street

Jun-9-2008 By shoppingmum

I overheard from the radio that there are some fraud cases in selling pirated DVDs in Petaling Street, and some buyers were being threatened to pay in hundreds of ringgit just for a pirated CD. Firstly, everyone knows that it’s illegal to buy pirated CDs but in our country, you just can’t deny that there is a great market for pirated stuffs. But if someone will have to pay so much to get one, why don’t we just go for originals?

Besides that, I don’t really like to shop at those stalls in Chi Cheong Kai. Those people are so rude and if you have no intention to buy anything, just don’t touch their stuffs. They will scold you in all those vulgar words that make you so embarrassed about yourself. I got a very bad experience more than 10 years ago, so I told myself never buy anything from there again. It’s not like I’m desperate for pirated Festina watches or LV handbags which I can just buy the originals!!!

So there you go. One of our tourist attraction in Malaysia is rotting and chasing people away. Maybe the stallholders are more friendly to foreigners but rude to our own kind. That does it, let’s see if they can make a good living selling fake stuffs to angmohs.

Berjaya Hills

Mar-30-2008 By shoppingmum

We are going to KL again to catch Mickey On Ice next week. Too bad it’s not a school holiday, if not I might plan a trip to Berjaya Hills because we haven’t been there.

It was formerly known as Bukit Tinggi and it’s only 40 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur. I think my kids will love the trip there as they can visit the rabbit park, deer sanctuary and taking a ride on a donkey! Of course, my boy will be thrilled if he can take a lesson on horse riding at the Horse Trails as lead rides around the paddock are available for children.

As for hubby, he can enjoy a round of golf, if he manages to join other golfers on their flight. I certainly cannot play with him if I have to watch the kids. But frankly, I hope that he can forget about golfing and help me to watch our kids. LOL! I think I will be busy snapping photos of Colmar Tropicale, a French village with street performances! It will be more enjoying that spending time at home cluing to my Bose home theater.

Let’s see when will the rain season be over. Then, we will arrange for a trip there.

We went there for lunch yesterday. We had 2 hours to waste while waiting for the turtle hatching center to open on a super hot Sunday. We’ve been to Damai Laut before, but not with the kids. It’s their first trip to this 4 stars resort which is popular for its golf course.

If you are wondering if the lunch was great, oh well, I won’t say that it’s nice as there were flies flying around at our table and it’s totally annoying. I think the hotel management should do something about this instead of waiting for the diners to ask for candles. Anyway, the candle didn’t help much and we tried our best to finish our meals ASAP.

My kids had a good time walking about the pool though. They love swimming pools and which kid doesn’t?

Too bad we were not the guests of the resort, so we couldn’t use the pool. My kids could only enjoy the sun. LOL!

We left the resort after a quick lunch. Nonetheless, hubby stopped by the road to admire the golf course.

He must be thinking about his Ping Golf set at that moment huh?

Frankly, I hate the place. It has nothing to do with the turtles but the attitude of those who work at the center. I ranted about it at my personal blog, so hop over to the link above if you are curious. My kids were excited when they found out that we planned to bring them to see the real turtles. They read about it from some books and saw the turtles once at KL aquarium, but it was a long time ago.

This turtle hatching center is managed by Jabatan Perikanan Malaysia (Department Of Fisheries Malaysia), and it’s entrance free. No wonder they have such bad working attitudes!!! Besides that, the beach is so dirty, it’s definitely not a good spot for picnic. :P Nonetheless, most children will love to see the baby turtles because they are simply cute.

There are bigger turtles too, and judging by the sizes, they represent the different stages of a turtle’s life cycle. I’m not sure how old are the turtles because there aren’t any details written about the turtles and no one bothers to entertain the tourist as well.

In short, don’t come to this center with high expectation. You might not be able to visit the turtles due to the lousy working attitude of the staffs.

Now you know why I didn’t need a usb flash drive to store the photos of the center? I didn’t feel like snapping photos after waiting for the whole morning.

We are going to visit the Turtle Hatching Center in Pantai Pasir Panjang tomorrow and my kids are excited about it. They went to bed early tonight because we need to leave the house early in the morning and reach the hatching center as early as possible. It closes at 12pm, so it’s best to arrive as soon as it’s open so that my kids can visit the whole center.

I tried to find out more about the center but I can’t find much about it. I just hope that hubby will not get lost looking for the direction tomorrow and ended up driving to the drug rehab. LOL! Nonetheless, we are going with someone else who claims that he knows the way. Let’s see if we can find the place.

School Holiday Starts and KL Trip

Mar-7-2008 By shoppingmum

We are back from Bangkok, but we will relocate to Bangkok in a few months. I guess my travel blog will be filled with interesting places in Bangkok once we move there. My friends told me that they will come and visit us in Bangkok, but since my house is pretty small, they can’t stay with us. Nonetheless, it’s not hard to find Cheap Hotels in Bangkok, so I don’t think they will mind paying for the accommodation huh? LOL!

It’s school holiday next week, so we may bring the kids to KL for a few days. We won’t be looking for any Cheap Hotels in Kuala Lumpur but only stay at hubby’s apartment. I don’t that the kids don’t like that place, but if daddy has no intention to pay for the hotels, they will have to get used to the small apartment then. :P

Frankly, I wanted to bring my kids to Singapore because they haven’t been there. I think we should spend a few days shopping and sightseeing in Singapore, and my kids will definitely love the Siloso Beach in Sentosa Island.

So, maybe I should check out the rate of Cheap Hotels in Singapore too? I wonder if we will have time for the trip now? This school holiday is kind of short though. But then again, we can arrange a trip next time, but we will need to fly to Singapore from Bangkok!

I love Barbie dolls and I used to have a few of them when I was a little girl. I hope that my gal will love it too and I might want to decorate her room in pink and full of Barbie dolls, a nice doll house, as well as the handsome Ken. LOL!

But anyway, you don’t have to paint the room in pink and spend so much on Barbie dolls if you just want to put a smile on a little girl now. Just drop by the Barbie Room at Sheraton Subang Hotel and Towers and most girls will be thrilled to spend a night there, with the company of other girls or you. The rooms are not going to be there forever, and they are only available until the end of February. So you better hurry up!

The exclusive room package is priced at RM380++ per room per night and it includes buffet breakfast for two children, a goodie bag, 20% discounts on Sunway Lagoon Theme Park Tickets and enjoys free shuttle service to the theme park.

So, does the room equipped with air purifiers? Too bad my gal is too young for this, and hopefully, the Barbie rooms will be available a few years later. By then, she’s old enough to enjoy playing with them.

Going To Cameron Highlands Tomorrow

Jan-27-2008 By shoppingmum

Out of the blue, hubby suggested that we bring the kids to Cameron Highlands tomorrow. It’s just a one day trip but I haven’t made up my mind on where to bring the kids. There are so much to do in Cameron Highlands, such as visiting the butterfly farms, rose valley, tea plantations, cactus valley, strawberry picking or honey bee farms, but it’s just hard to squeeze everything in on a day trip!

Or maybe we will just go for the food. I hope that we have time for a nice tea at Ye Olde Smoke House. I really like that place!

Ye Olde Smoke HouseĀ

I told hubby to leave tonight at first so that we can spend a night at the boutique hotel and try out the mattress of Ye Olde Smoke House, but he said why waste money woh? Cheh…

Oriental Village Langkawi

Oriental Village Langkawi is only 5 minutes away if you walk from Berjaya Beach and Spa Resort. We went there after the mangrove trip and it was in the evening. It’s best to come here in the evening so that you can enjoy the nice sunset at the top of the hill.

There are some shops here where you can easily get clothes and handicrafts. If you like clothes from some famous Italian brands, you can find quite a number of them too, but I didn’t get anything that day. I was not keen to shop anyway. There are some rental rooms available as well, and the environment is quite family friendly.

The main purpose we came here was going for the cable car ride.

IMG_0944

The cable car will take you up to a mountain at 42 degree incline and it was quite scary to me.

IMG_0976

It’s very windy that evening and our cable car was shaky! You will come to Gunung Macincang and the view at 708m above sea level is breathtaking.

IMG_0987

We stayed up there waiting for the sunset and it’s a wonderful experience for me, considering that I’m so afraid of height! Maybe it’s a windy evening, so my knees were rather weak like I’m an old lady that needs assisted living software to run my errands. LOL!

I have some other photos posted on my personal blog. Check them out too! If you are visiting Langkawi soon, don’t you miss the cable car ride. It’s fascinating.

Genting Trip Again

Jan-8-2008 By shoppingmum

I met up with some friends yesterday and one of them asked us if we are interested to go for a trip to Genting. She wanted to bring her son there who’s only started traveling and going on trips. On the other hand, my kids have been there a lot until I lost count of the number of trips they have been to Genting Highlands. It will be nice to bring them there again, but since school has just started, I don’t feel like bring them for holiday too soon.

Actually, I think it’s my friend’s hubby who wants to gamble at the casinos. He has always enjoyed playing the games at casino, and maybe he can just try online poker at the comfort of his home. As long as he has internet connection and a PC, how hard can it be? He doesn’t have to go all the way to Genting for the games, does he?

So I’m not too keen to join in the trip. I might be moving away, and I better start looking for schools for my kids.
