Alcazar Cabaret Show in Pattaya

Apr-21-2010 By shoppingmum

It’s been years since my last visit to any cabaret shows in Thailand, so when we were in Pattaya days go, we brought the kids to their first cabaret ladyboy show at Alcazar. I’m not sure if Alcazar is better than Tiffany, or vise versa, but the show was great.

It’s quite an enjoyable experience for the kids, who thought it’s just dancing and singing. Of course, I didn’t go to the extend of explaining these performers on stage. They are too young to understand anyway. Besides that, these ladyboys are very gorgeous, under the thick makeup and costumes. Can’t see any dark circles on them too. :P

So, don’t miss it if you are having a vacation in Pattaya.

Crowded Pattaya During Songkran

Apr-16-2010 By shoppingmum

Pattaya was very crowded even if the water festival starts on 19th here annually. The traffic was pretty bad, and even worse than Bangkok during Songkran. Maybe most tourists had deserted Bangkok and traveled to other tourist spots, especially since the bloody clash in the city.

It was so packed, I couldn’t get a nice fresh air here as a lot of tourists were smoking like crazy. The Thai women were happy with their “business”, and it’s not hard to see why.

We visited a few places in Pattaya, and I will blog about them once the photos are ready. Definitely not bikini shots as yours truly here didn’t take any weight loss products before the trip. LOL!

Royal Orchid Resort, Pattaya

Apr-16-2010 By shoppingmum

We made a last minute booking at Royal Orchid Resort in Pattaya, and we were glad with the family suite we stay in for 2 nights. It’s not a beach front resort, but it’s a nice decent place. Most of the resorts are fully booked, so we couldn’t be bothered about the location of the place we stayed in Pattaya. I don’t want to get any adult acne treatments, cracking my head on a place to stay, especially since we only booked it a night before we departed!

The family suite is quite spacious, and you can easily fit 2 extra beds in. Too bad the living room is not separated, so it’s more like one big room instead of a suite.

Anyway, it’s a nice short break there, and I don’t mind returning to this resort.

Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand

Jan-9-2010 By shoppingmum

It’s great that BIL had bought a bigger SUV, so all of us can just hop in the same car for short trips. They are doing very well last year, with bigger house and a brand new year, gee…I wish we can do the same too this year! Let’s pray for better prospect in our business.

So, after a night at Nusa Playa Hotel and Spa, we checked out in the afternoon and visited Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi. I’ve heard about this zoo, but we went to Sri Racha Tiger Zoo on our precious trips.

You can get really close to the less harmful animal, and food feeding is allowed.

It’s a great place for kids to get some close up with wild animals, as long as their parents are keeping an eye on them.

Other animals are kept in captivity, and there are some which you can get a closer look.

My kids love this zoo so much, and I think we will come back here again. Anyway, it’s not too far from the city, and with the cheapest car insurance renewed, we might as well travel for a few more short trips this year.

Travel Fair at Impact Muang Thong Thani

Nov-2-2009 By shoppingmum

We went for the travel fair held at Impact Muang Thong Thani yesterday, but since it’s the last day of the fair, it’s very crowded with last minute shoppers. I got a few good deals last year at the fair and this year, we are not going to miss it!

We managed to buy a few hotel stays at affordable prices and we booked for a trip to Similan Islands during our stay in Phuket too.

Similan Islands is one of the best diving and snorkeling destination in Thailand, and it’s a well preserved national park. But do take note that:

Please note: The Similan Islands National Park is closed to ALL access from May 15th to November 1st each year. This is due to the weather conditions. It is not possible to visit the park or the surrounding waters during this time. Any operator selling you a tour during that time is not only breaking the law – but risking YOUR life.

I just can’t wait to check out how pretty the islands are. :)

Besides that, we found something interesting for the kids:

A submarine ride!!! And you can just board on deck from Pattaya. Why haven’t I known about this? Please check out www.Thaisubmarine.com for more details. That’s something we will do on our next trip to Pattaya.

There are a lot of travel agencies with travel packages abroad too, but we didn’t get any. With our tight travel budget,  I can only plan a few short trips in Thailand. It’s a bit pathetic, but as long as we manage to spend some quality time together, I better stop complaining. :P

Oh ya, I found Cuti-cuti Malaysia too. LOL! I managed to snap some photos of the stage performance by standing near the tv stand, but I don’t think the dancers are Malaysian. :P They look like local Thais to me. LOL!

ATV Ride

Mar-19-2009 By shoppingmum

We have heard so much about ATV and how fun it is to be riding on one. Thus, when hubby and I saw those ATV lining up at Chomwana Resort and Horse Club, we wanted to give them a try.

Since our kids were coming with us, we had to have one of them sittting with us, but it’s quite safe. We had 2 instructors going with us as well.

As you can see from the photo, it’s a bumpy dusty ride along some plantation and deserted area. We rode across a stream too, and it was fun. So, forget about tuxedo shirt ya? You will get dirty, sweaty and probably wet if you fall into the stream. LOL! Just kidding la. ATV is much safer than a motorbike.

An hour later, my boy fell asleep on his dad’s ATV, and all of us were very exhausted too when we reached the resort. So, after a nice shower, we chilled out at this rest area on the lake.

Again, if you are coming to Chomwana Resort and Horse Club, don’t miss this spot!

Chomwana Resort and Horse Club

Mar-19-2009 By shoppingmum

I found out about Chomwana Resort and Horse Club from a travel fair. Since my kids like horses, I thought that it would be great if we stayed for a few days and let them ride on the ponies. It was a great stay, but little that I knew, this resort is very new. It was only open to guest on the day we checked in, so I was pretty surprised by that.

Nonetheless, the room was nice.

Our bed is bigger than the normal king bed.

The balcony of our room, which is joined to other rooms.

The lake view from the balcony.

Don’t miss this restaurant and the rest hut, not for the food though, but it’s windy and pretty relaxing there.

Here’s the pool, and my kids swam everyday here, even if it’s chilly during winter in Thailand!

You can pick your horse or pony from the stable, if you are interested in horse riding.

Here’s the dining area near the swimming pool. It was very windy during our stay here.

If you are interested to know more about this resort, check out their website. However, since it’s pretty new, the place is not fully facilitated with things like internet connection, or shuttle bus to Pattaya beach nearby. It’s a bit remote to locate this resort too, but my kids love the place due to the ponies!

Pattaya Park Tower Jump

Oct-2-2008 By shoppingmum

I was eager to try the tower jump at Pattaya Park, but then again, I don’t think my kids would let me do it. Thus, I didn’t jump off the 55th floor of the tower and burst the blood pressure monitor of my Polar watch. LOL!

I used to be very adventurous, but after being a mother, I haven’t tried anything that rush my adrenaline except running about chasing my kids.

If you have tried the jump, tell me, is it great?

Pattaya Beach

Sep-17-2008 By shoppingmum

I thought this trip to Pattaya will not come true any sooner but I was wrong. We went to Pattay last Sunday and it’s a fun. It was sunny that day, despite the fact that it’s raining season in Bangkok.

It was a day trip, so it’s pretty tiring. Next time, we will come here for a stay. It’s been years since my last visit to Pattaya, so everything has changed a lot here.

The beaches are great, but it’s not as clean as before. I guess tourism is not always good for nature huh? But someone told me it’s due to the tides too. So, no matter what, the beach has to be cleaned up.

Nonetheless, we still had a good time picnicking and sunbathing by the beach. I have always love the beach and you bet I was really enjoying myself. There are a few topless women here, but I didn’t even bring along my bikini. I can’t possibly put one on without using any weight loss product for months. LOL!

Anyway, I am really tanned now. It’s very sunny that day, but I love it.
